Karanga Mai Early Learning Centre
Empowering whānau and tamariki through education
Nau mai, tauti mai
Karanga Mai Early Learning Centre is a whānau-based learning community that provides high-quality, culturally responsive education and care for tamariki. It is a place where supportive and respectful relationships empower everyone to belong, to believe, to discover, to grow.
We welcome both young parents attending Karanga Mai Young Parents College and whānau from the wider community.
We work in partnership with you and your whānau to ensure your tamariki recognise their talents, know they are important and feel a sense of belonging. As a parent, you are an important part of this journey, and we are here to support and uplift you, too.
Karanga Mai Early Learning Centre is run as part of the services offered by Community Wellbeing North Canterbury Trust.
Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini

Education Rooted in Te Whāriki
Our learning approach is guided by Te Whāriki, Aotearoa’s early childhood curriculum. Tamariki are nurtured as competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society. Tamariki learn in a language rich environment, experiencing daily te reo and te ao Māori.

Access for all
We believe that every child deserves equal access to education. To remove barriers, we provide transport, food, clothing and social services so that all tamariki can attend and fully participate. We are a proud partner of the KidsCan Programme, ensuring tamariki have everything they need to thrive.

Whānau involvement
We welcome and encourage whānau involvement. From community outings and annual marae visits to weekly waiata sessions, we offer plenty of opportunities to connect and be involved in our Karanga Mai community.
