Community Youth Workers

Youth Work has been a keen focus since the first days in Kaiapoi and the Community Youth Workers (CYW) continue to work throughout the Waimakariri District, working with youth at risk and their families.

About our service

We have two youth workers in our confidential service, one in Oxford based at Oxford Community Trust Rooms and one in Rangiora who covers North Canterbury.

We are available to be there as a guide and support for you when life’s challenges are affecting you in your life. This can be any number of things and includes family relationships, feeling isolated, lacking motivation and direction, perhaps getting into trouble at school or with Police. We usually work with young people up to age 18.

These are some of the things we offer:

  • Support and information.
  • Connection with the community.
  • Somebody to rely on and talk to.
  • Connections to other resources that you may need.
